Goodbye 2009

So, with Dave takin his annual leave from Protest! to enjoy a chilly Xmas in the US, it’s time for Protest! to bid 2009 a found farewell.

We managed to play quite a few shows this year and put out a few tracks for people to download. Although the pace was a little behind what I expected, it’s still left me chomping at the bit and wishing it was 2010 already.

The new year will see us recording (studio time is booked) our debut album. I’m not sure how many tracks it will be just yet, but it will a mix of our older songs an the newer ones. Our newer songs are taking us to places I didn’t think we’d end up but I’m super stoked that they did. I was talking to B2 at practice last night we were saying that we started out as an offshoot punk band from our old band Bad Day Down, but we’ve morphed into something else. It’s a heap of bloody fun!

So, we’ll organise some shows whilst Dave is away and you should see us rocking hard again soon!

Have a good one!

Show on Saturday night canned

Sorry folks, we WON’T be playing at Fat Louies on Saturday 14th Nov.  Yeah, it’s shithouse we know, but we’ll be organising some more gigs soon.  The wheels start turning on recording in the next couple of weeks and we should be organising some gigs for the new year.

To be honest, I have been slack on updates recently, but if you keep an eye on us on twitter (follow us: http://twitter.com/protestpunk) I have been updating that a lot more because it is super easy from my phone and I am lazy!

As our most recent tweet says, get onto the latest Animal Australia campaign: watch, do, support…

GO! Shows!

So, the weekend is nearly upon us which means it’s show time folks!!  The space that I refuse to mention by name on this site royally stuffed up the show invites I sent out and had them happening a day later than they should, so again (as I have re-sent all invites and have been hyping the show on twitter and facebook), the shows are:

Friday 23rd Oct @ The Clarence w/Damn The Empire, Panel Van Halen and Teargas

Saturday 24th Oct afternoon @ 4ZzZ car park w/Damn The Empire, The Black Market, Wheatpaste, One Shot Salute (I think)

Saturday 24th night @ Fat Louies w/Damn The Empire, The Pretty Boys and Align

Be there or simply miss out on one of the best bands you’ll see travelling from Melbourne this year!!!

Brief break then heading on back into it!

So we’re having a break at the moment cause we’re busy. Some of us aren’t in the country, some are studying, others are working, some are doing all of the above. You might, however, have noticed we have a truck load of gigs coming up, so I hope to see a bunch of people in a few weeks when we’ll be back, rocking harder than ever before!

Oh yeah!

Step one: done!

So, I recieved a great email from Animals Australia yesterday saying that after being inundated with emails from supporters and mounting international pressure, the Shire of Broome held an emergency meeting and decided to suspend its sister-city relationship with the Japanese dolphin killing town Taiji.

The move by Broome sends a strong message to Japan that the international community strongly opposes the slaughter of 23,000 dolphins in Japan each year.

Whilst Broome’s decision adds significant international pressure on Japan to end the slaughter, unfortunately it does not mean that Japan will immediately cease the dolphin kill. The fight to save these dolphins is not over yet. If you can spare two minutes today, please click here for a few more key ways you can help us to end the senseless slaughter of these gentle and intelligent animals.
